Corporate practice .

November 28, 2000 09:14AM
First America aquired two other operations (California Western and Smoky Mountain[?]) the last year and a half. They maybe using the profits of the "flagship" operation (D&SNG) to finance the start-up costs of such takeovers . Also it has been reported to me that First America may buy
out Bradshaw early . This is a common corporate practice ,as mergers and aquisitions in big companies invariably lead to layoffs in all companies involved . The fine line is that railroads are labor-intensive ,and there is a danger of"robbing Peter to pay Paul".
