I think it had an amazing sound. The lempor exhaust nozzles created a very sharp sound. I think the modifications Wardale did to the cylinders also made it sound different.
Wardale did another interesting conversion of a Cuban 2-8-2. He super heated it, and installed a feedwater system on it too. He also set it up to burn 3 different fuels. Coal, oil, and diesel. Along with a number of small modifications, such as a stoker, and power reverse. This locomotive was also painted in red. Later to black, and back to red again, just like the Red Devil. The 3450 is real sharp in black.
