Beats me John. I know it was there in 1971 when I first went to Chama, but was gone the next summer. The story I got was that it was torn down because it occupied a large part of the parking lot. Remember, Scenic had thier great plan to make what it now the parking lot into an old west town with old style buildings against the hill (2 story facing the rr, one story facing the street), and the warehouse would have been in the way of that. A new parking lot and a new depot wuld have been built out in the meadow/floodplain. The new depot would be needed to handle the 100,000+ passengers expected by 1974.
