I appreciate the informed opinions here . I am aware that dead-weight testing is the best way to calibrate a guage, but was not aware of the screws in the face (this gauge doesn't have them). This gauge is labeled "locomoive" and is a 300-pound gauge. #315 operated at 160 psi- higher than other engines in its class because it had more lateral bracing than the other engines.
