Is the gauge off the same amount throughout its range, or does it get worse with higher pressures?? If its concistantly off you can use a needle puller to remove and reposition the needle( use the right tool so as not to mess up the settings on the inside). I was taught to set the needle on using a dead weight tester set to about 100 pounds, then put the needle on. Always worked ok for me. If the variance of the gauge gets worse as pressure increases, youll need to make an internal adjustment, which I have little practice at, and hopefully someone else on here can help out on that. As far as oiling the internals, I was taught to use 3 in 1 oil, which shouldnt leave a residue. Its a good idea to take the face off the gauge and clean out the insides when calibrating it, its a good opportunity to check the condition of the tubes inside and the mechanism. I hope this helps.
