John,
When I acquired a "new" boiler gauge, I thought it was best to send it out to have it inspected, repaired and recertified by the guys that do this stuff every day and know what to look for and have the parts available. I have used a company in Los Angeles called Gauge Repair Service. I will get the address and telephone number if you like. From my experience, they were very prompt and reasonable. The gauge came back with the work done and calibrations. A good starting point.
