Thank you for your correction . Yes , the paint job first appeared on the #268 when it and the gondolas you were speaking of were sent to the Chicago Railroad Fair . However , there is no indication that the painted gondolas were ever used in the "Silverton " consist. It is my understanding th ey sat in Alamosa until purchased by the Black Hills Central in the late 1950s . Ron asked about coaches used on the "Silverton" and the information I gave him is correct ,though #212 may have been painted gold in 1949 ..I would also note that the paint job on #268 was altered slightly when it returned from Chicago .The domes were painted Grande Gold
