Locomotive 268 first received "Grande Gold" in 1948 for the 1948 and 1949 Chicago Railway Fair.
The first rolling stock to receive "Grande Gold" was 9 narrow gauge gondolas that were converted to passenger cars. Three of these cars (5, 7, 9) are still active on the Georgetown Loop. In areas of peeled paint, the yellow is still there. In Chicago, some of these cars were pulled by C&S #9. The others were pulled around the circle by D&RGW 268.
I've seen one picture of these cars in a passenger consist leaving Durango. I'm not certain which ones, but a few went to the Black Hills Central for several years.
