The Colorado Railroad Museum adheres to the mission statement adopted over 30 years ago. "Our purpose is to preserve and interpret the history of the region by the aquisition, restoration, and display of rolling stock, artifacts, photographs and paper records". We do not discriminate, both narrow and standard gauge items are gratefully accepted. We are a 501C3 non-profit corporation.
Donations to the Museum are tax deductible. We will accept almost anything railroad related that does not eat. We are recognized as one of the premier railroad museums in the country. Our library's collection of railroad books, photos, and railroad records are second only to the Smithsonian. Our "hardware collection" runs the gamut from the DSP&P harp switch stand from the turntable lead at the west portal of the Alpine Tunnel, to the oldest operating steam locomotive in Colorado. (Yes, #346 is being assembled to operate the end of 2005.) If you are considering letting your collection outlive you, or just want
a place that other people can enjoy your collection, consider the Colorado Railroad Museum
first. Call or e-mail us and we'll be glad to go over things with you.
