Ted,
Here's part of the problem. When I call a museum they are going to very reasonably ask, what is it that I am offering. I'll ramble off a general description, but they'll say something like please send us a list. That means I have to catalogue my collection first. Sorry, too much trouble. Let my survivors toss the junk into the dumpster.
On the other hand, if some museum folks would go to the trouble of suggesting some general guidelines, such as your comment about UP stuff being common while NWP stuff may be less common....that's at least a starting point. My guess is a couple of folks from several museums at one of the annual conventions could put together some general guidelines in about 5 minutes. And each museum's website could post it.
I have emailed one museum so far and not even gotten a reply. And that after somebody active at the museum suggested I send the email. A lot of museums are staffed by volunteers who may or may not be available to respond.
Hmm. Think I'll go check some websites and see if I can find anything like that. I'll buy your lunch in Oakland next time we get together if I find anything useful.
