Re: Museums and historians....let's hear from you

I guess part of my point is that if museums really want this stuff, perhaps they should be a bit more proactive and not just wait for folks to come to them. For example, I had no idea the Portola museum collected paper, it has always been a hardware place in my mind (stupid me). And at least one museum I did contact never responded. On the other hand, perhaps this problem is self correcting, in the sense that those folks who have "important" collections know it and will make the effort. What may be at risk are the valuable individual items in small collections by folks (like me) who don't take it all too seriously.
