Back in 1997 Les Jarrett and I produced the fourth video in the America By Rail series, called "Route of the Southwest Cheif". One of the side-trips was Knotts and Les did a nice piece for the video including a cab ride, interior shot of the the cars, and runbys. The folks there were very gracious, and the train was superb looking all with Rio Grande lettering.
It never ceases to amaze me how some folks can really have their PR act together like Knotts did with us, and how other more established railfan meccas were so hard to work with, especially when it was FREE advertising. Would love to see the Knotts train on the C&TS along with 340 for a couple of months or longer!!
The aforementioned video has several side trips including Knotts, Orange Empire, and others including a piece on the C&TS. The Amtrak trip is from Chicago to LA. The Knotts train is a jewel! Thanks for the cooperation guys!
