Since George spoke up, I will put my two cents worth in here as well. You all know that I'm in favor of historic preservation and the C&TS is tops with me. I'm in favor of some sort of funding for it as a State Park or Museum, perhaps.
That being said, I also have great respect for Wade Hall, but I want to state here that in my observation, some politicians are out to build a power base with public money. Some sort of message is in order to signal those politicians that the money in my pocket that I have to pay in taxes does not belong to them until I write the check. Once I write the check, I expect them to carefully manage those funds. I'm not sure that is happening at the moment.
I think much of the message against the tax amendment is from those who are building such a power base. I would carefully consider this before discounting the amendment completely. It may not be true in Delta County, but it certainly is true along the Front Range.
