My only complaint with Link's work was that it was all staged, and some of it was not natural.
He posed all the people in the pictures, and his most famous shot, of the drive-in, they replaced the image that was on the screen.
In some respects its comparable to Steven Speilburg coming into Chama for a few years and sets out to make the absolute best production imaginable with every conceivable prop at his disposal. So, when its all done, yes its superb, beautiful and all that, but its still a staged and somewhat unnatural event. It reminds me of a famous artist who makes the smoke perfect, and decides to add an elk or some other animal in the perfect spot. The question is how often would one actual be able to photograph or even witness such an image in real life!!! Don't get me wrong, not all Link's stuff was hoaky, but a lot of them had people pose for the shots. In my mind a little of that goes a long way. I much prefered his standard shots where he illuminated a water fall, or railroad building, like a tower, or something like that. Just a different outlook on things IMHO!
