I remember eating in that cafe across from the yard with my family in 1968 when we were in Chama shooting the freights. I remember the Cafe sign on the window and the great photo. I thought it was Shaughnesy,or Hastings photo, but you may be right about Krause, I don't really know. It was cool being able to get breakfast and keep an eye on the engines in the yard.
That shot also had a lasting effect on me, as I remember I tried a similar shot in 1988 in Canada shooting a snow plow with CN F-units through a door with "Yard Office" on the glass.
As for Vera's, while I never ate there in the C&TS days(I learned REAL Mexican was beyond what I could handle) the place was the most famous in the area from what I heard. Condolences to the family!
