A colorful and still inaccurate story. I knew Wood and family, rode the B-3 with them on the first run into Silverton that summer, shot a number of pictures of those events, including the 464 switching the car in the yard, a stop at Tank Creek, the red carpet arrival in Silverton, and a subsequent trip a few days later when I took a picture of the Nomad going past the station headed back to Durango. The account of the White's abortive attempt to purchase the railroad is so wrong that it is a waste of keyboard time to try to set it right. Wood and White lost the car to a sheriff's auction for unpaid bills, and the real story is as interesting as the fictional one presented in this account. The Ft. Lewis archival material is likewise riddled with inaccuracies, but does have a tremendous set of photos.
