Just by the luck of the draw I got to see both engines on the same train from Alamosa in 1961. The had a long train doubleheaded to Antonito, then one was cut in the middle. My dad somehow got us to Osier, where we took the old logging road to the other side of the creek and shot across the valley watching the train for a long time head to Osier in late afternoon sun. Then we got some shots as they switched at Osier. With the long shadows I doubt there was any sunlight left by the time they reach Los Pinos. I have a few so-so B&W taken with my junker camera back then. I'd love to see them run again also. The only really good loco is one that is operational, right! By the way I was 10 when I saw the duo. Remember you younger guys, today's images are tomorrows history!
