I didn't read the entire thread here so I don't know if this has been brought up...but if I'm not mistaken, isn't the 346 still a coal-burner?!
I'm not sure if the rebuild includes an oil burner in the firebox; but I thought I heard that coal-fired lokies wouldn't be allowed in Clear Creek Canyon for fire hazards (hence why #9 would have to be converted?) Plus, I'd presume the GLR site is already home to an oil refuelling facility?
Funny, the thought of the 346 never even crossed my mind. Too bad the CRRM couldn't take responsibility from the CHS...like Cal. State Parks handed over Railtown 1897 to the CSRM in 1996! The CRRM is also a government agency as the CSRM (and CHS...), correct? Too bad it won't happen; that would probably really help things!
