This is excellent modern 90 lb. rail and OTM obtained from the former Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The Army Reserve is providing transportation as a training exercise (I believe the arrangement requires the Commission to pay for out of pocket expenses, such as fuel, lodging and meals). Combined with rail obtained earlier, when it is all delivered the Commission will have a total of about four track miles of essentially new 90 lb. rail and fastenings. It will eventually be used to upgrade the east end of the railroad, especially curves, where the existing 70 lb. material is worn. Osier west is already reasonably good 85 lb. rail. The new rail will also allow us to cascade some of the better 70 lb. rail from places where it has been replaced to places where it is needed. Kudos to Leo for pulling this together, and to Frank Stapleton, Mike Davis, Jim Ozment, and Mike Kenyon for doing a lot of the field work. Bill Collins is anxious to start laying steel, but it all depends on money and priorities yet to be determined.
