The Colorado Historical Societies distortions and mis-information continue. Ms. Contigluglia and her minions indeed are overseeing the destruction of one of the finest RR's in the US.
Just read the latest PR release here:
Then just try making a reservation for next season as the Press Release states "reservations for 2005 are currently being accepted". That is if you can reach them as the CHS can't even get the phone number right on their own webpage!
And for historical accuracy they now claim (in their 9/30/04 PR release): "In 1975, it (CHS) reconstructed and opened the narrow-gauge line that connects Georgetown, Colo. and Silver Plume, Colo." Seems to me that the line ends at Devils Gate, and I guess these revisionist CHS historians are already wiping the Ashby's contribution from the record.
Georgetown merchants are going to be in for a rude awakening come 2005, I just feel sad for them. We definitely enjoyed our time there but it will be a long time before we return based on what has been perpetrated by the CHS. A lot of other people feel the same way, and will find other destinations to visit in Colorado in 2005.
