This shot could be a frame from the motion picture
itself, which would explain the lack of lighting
and equipment. The almost too great contrast
range could be the result of a black & white print
made from a color motion picture negative. Also,
the image we see is standard 1.85:1 aspect ratio.
The locomotive may not be "under-steam" at all,
could be kerosene-soaked rags in the smokebox.
There's an extra in the foreground clearly wearing
a "Swatch" watch on his wrist.
