Interpretive Freight Train

John,
Why not consider loading the bodies on flats, and the trucks or wheels on either flats or gons and run a hospital train to Antonito when the guys are done with the passenger cars and parlor cars in Antonito. I would think that clearance would not be a problem on the tunnels, and if you had to pay someone to load them on a truck might as well load them on a train and save shipping costs. Also it could be a run that includes other things like supplies for the work session at Osier, etc!
This would also be a good way to underscore the usefulness of such a narrow gauge railroad for something other than passenger haulage in these parts in the year 2001!
Worried about crew costs? On a day when the helper is used to Cumbres, have the engine return to Chama, and take the hopper cars, and whatever else up to Cumbres and set them in the sidding.
The next time a helper is used have that crew take them to the rest of the way to Antonito after the passenger train departs Cumbres. Food for thought...better leave logistics to those on the scene, and who know more than I!
