Besides the extra expense (and batteries would need much more frequent replacement), a GPS receiver computes speed using the distance between successive points, which could be substantially less than the distance travelled. Since bike speedos are relatively cheap, we'll have to put one in and see how well they last, although someone above said they use them. How well is it working out??
