Re: Helicopter shots on the Cumbres and Toltec

Greg: Didn't shoot movies...but stills. See my C&TS color panorams at www.narrowgauge.org (Eyes Over Colorado). We used an Bell L-3 with the front door removed on my side. Best refueling stops are Alamosa and Pagosa Springs airports.Jim Dirker at Centennial Airport just south of metro Denver is the best pilot around. Many hours of movie time..and you can rent a Tyler mount for your camera for those silky smooth shots. As for sound, you could run radio from sound pick up on the engine or train (near front)to receiver on L-3 and do your far/near sound mix in the studio. Seeing the C&TS from a chopper is one 'helluva trip'. Good luck. Richard "Bo" Boulware
