Based on your experience with both D&S and C&TS, what do you think the railfan response would be if the C&TS leased a K-28 for a month (or whatever) pre-season or early season, just for railfan specials and a few other trips?
I know transport isn't free, but I wonder how many folks would show up at $500 or $1000 to chase/ride trains led by a K-28. This seems like it would be a money-making deal for some enterprising group.
Of course, the best deal would be a month-for-month trade of 463 and 473. Presuming that the C&TS follows John Bush's guidance on a 463 rebuild, it'd be cool to send her to the D&S for half the season and then bring her back with 473 for the other half. That way costs and benefits would be equalized for the two roads, and railfans could do things that hadn't been done in 50+years.
