Check with the DeGoyer Library at Southern Methodist University in Texas. I got a bunch of info from there when I was researching Kahuku 15 years ago (she is class 6-10 1/3-C-34). As to when the class number was assigned, someone had to stamp those numbers on all the parts before the engine was assembled. After assembly was finished, a construction number was assigned. Kahuku and Ewa Plantation #1 wound up in the middle of a sequence of B&O 2-8-0's.
