I always wonder what would have been had the Colorado RR museum stayed in Alamosa. They might have been given more of the D&RGW equipment, although thats speculation(they did already get quite a bit).
I guess the idea would be nice in that today they would be another destination on the Antonito side of the C&TS for visitors at Alamosa. With the selling of the old D&RGW to the new shortline operator, who knows what they might have been able to do.
The CRRM being in Golden is probably a catch 22. They get far more visitors there instead of Alamosa, but have cramped space, and hassles with neighbors that never would have occured in the wide open areas south of Alamosa. I just think it could have helped out a somewhat depressed area in the long run if it hadn;'t moved, but hindsight is always 20-20.
