Here in WA, the adverse possession claim can be made in as little as 10 years of uncontested usage. An attorney informed me that if the usage can be demonstrated to go back for that period or longer, even if one or both property owners have changed, it's still a valid claim.
Sounds like Creede has had adverse possesion for 20 or more years.
Can't say this makes me any more sympathetic to Mr. Shanks cause.
