Stephen,
But then that would ruin their whole premise that the Georgetown Loop Railroad (now copyrighted by them) was THEIR brainchild, THEIR 30+ years of sweat and blood, THEIR successful (with a 100% safety record!) running of historic steam locomotives and so is THEIR right to say what will or will not happen on THEIR railroad!!! (Well, what else are we to infer from these press releases of theirs? There is so much sugar being spread all over this situation that it's beginning to make me diabetic!!)
There's SOMETHING we're not being told about!! I'm sorry but NO ONE that has any business sense would have taken that agreement! From a business standpoint it is financial suicide!! From everything I have seen Ron Trotier isn't a fool so SOMETHING's not the way we think it is!
All I can say is that it is going to be an interesting winter! Railstar has to start from scratch! They not only have to provide EVERYTHING in order to operate the railroad but they have to bring in everything to rebuild and maintain it!! In addition, they have to rebuild and/or recondition their engines and rolling stock which usually takes all winter.......oh, I forgot! THEY DON'T HAVE ANY ENGINES OR ROLLING STOCK!! (Hmmm.....that might be a teensy weensy itsy bitsy but ever so critical problem!)
This situation reminds me of the Chicago Bulls. Six NBA championships in eight years (and probably eight out of eight if Jordan hadn't decided to "retire" for two years and play baseball!) and then what happens? The ownership breaks up the team and decides "to go in a new and exciting direction"(!) The result of the ownership's decisive actions? The Bulls immediately became the cellar dwellers of their division and have yet to recover.
Now put the GLR Inc. in the position of Jordan, Pippin, Rodman and the others and put the CHS in as the "ownership" and the situation is shockingly similar! (I hope you guys liked the analogy to Jordan, Pippen, etc... as I consider the GLR Inc. to be as classy a railroad operation as they were a championship basketball team (and both operations thorough professionals!)
