Hi all. Ive been wondering about this for quite a while. When the D&S traded the 499 for the 486, why was 499 picked as apposed to 498 or 493. Maybe she was the most worn out of the three, but it would seem to me that 499 would be the one to keep on the railroad from a historical sense, its the last narrow gauge steam engine built (or reguaged) for the Rio Grande. Ive also heard she was a favorite of some locomotive crews on the Grande. Ive asked a few people about this, but no one had ever said for sure the reason. Thanks
