I've been saying in posts for the past five months that 463 and/or 497 should be worked on. A number of weeks ago I heard Kim Smith on the radio place both of them far down the line, especially 463.
I wonder what has changed. I've always heard that 463 had limited ppower and 497 was rough on the poor trackage on the C & TS. Maybe 463 wasn't in as poor a condition as was though OR 483 was worse. Also, maybe the feeling that is that tracks will be upgraded, heavier rail, repplaced ties, banked curves, etc., that will reduce the wear and tear of the 497.
I don't know the particulars but would love to see a detailed explanation from the powers-that-be.
