Hi Jason. Figured I'd get that sort of response. Anyone who works actively against a business they work for should be considered for termination. That's just my opinion. If you didn't do that, then I apologize. It certainly did have that appearance though - and maybe they don't want to say it to your face, but I was not alone in this thought. Hopefully they will read your explanation and gain a better understanding, as I did.
As for:
"All of the energy you put into insuring that Railstar does not succeed only screws Railstar(an innocent participant in this fiasco from my perspective, as a radical thought, take the time to meet Mr. Trottier and talk with him for a while before you set your opinion of Railstar in stone) and the hardworking business owners of Georgetown and Silver Plume. What did they do to deserve your anger?"
I have never done anything to ensure that Railstar doesn't succeed. I have talked with Mr. Trottier and have posted on this board the elements of our conversation. I do not dislike him. I have no reason to. I did however learn from talking with him that he intended to run deisels for the first couple of years. Considering that the Loop was told NO! when they asked to run more deisels, I did find it to be unfair -not to mention the intent of this RFP was to run a steam operation.
As for the merchants and businesses here in this town -the brunt of my questioning of the whole situation is the result of concern for them (and MY tax base). Maybe you can afford to believe what the CHS is spouting, but the businesses here deserve more than this uncertainty. The CHS is moving forward with this absolute uncertainty despite the welfare of our businesses being in serious jeopardy and having an alternative to the uncertainty (heaven forbid they renegotiate with the Loop!). The CHS themselves have stated that it will take 30 years to regain what is here now.
It is absolutely atrocious that you would say that I am trying to destroy the Loop -In what way?
You stated, "Both in my opinion acted poorly in this situation." How did the Loop act poorly?
When I asked Behrens to substantiate his comments about the Loop, I was asking to see if maybe he could, maybe there was a reason that he should share. But if he couldn't (and he didn't) what's to say this man doesn't treat Railstar just as poorly?
Also, I have just been backchanneled re:RGRPC and their RFP. I will check further, but this person tells me that they DID NOT respond to the RFP, the CHS went with another operator, and six months later the CHS went BACK to the RGRPA to renegotiate. Again, I will try to verify this asap.
Jason, you are very knowledgable and I think it is clear that we both care about what happens here. Let's not be catty.
