My opinion is that his qualifications are that he can use good sense and judgement, and I for one think it was a fantastic post.
I have heard of some arrogance on the part of this operator in the past, and a sense of we own the place at multiple locations.
The problem with NOT OWNING a railroad, is the situation that has occured.
As Mr. Webster pointed out though this is not unlike the C&TS situation a few years back and while the RGRPC was on the hot seat, they still stuck with it and put in a bid which was the winning bid.
The GLR has never been all that authentic nor historical except for the relaying of the track and bridge on the original right or way. The operators have essentially been running any old engines and cars to get the job done. Thats fine, but call it like it is and a historic and authentic train it is not!!!
All that said I am sure it was an enjoyable train ride to those who rode it, and its procimity to Denver made it an easy destination for a lot of folks to enjoy!
It is too bad that stubborn arogance was probably the downfall of the GLR as it was through this season. Hopefully we will once again see brighter days, and some good may come out of it in the form of more historic equipment.
