Keith,
Firstly, I haven't gotten off of my butt because I have only been here a month, secondly information comes out of the museum at a trickle or not at all. What I meant with the no money comment was that many people say we don’t have the money and leave it at that. I don’t expect everything to be spelled out to me and I don’t want it to be, it just always seemed like the museum could do more to get funds. Apparently I was not correct in that assumption.
I thought that no one had ever tested 191 and the possibility of it being a Steel boiler was still up in the air. One museum volunteer once told me that it was stupid for everyone who had a engine rotting in a park to want to restore it. I had also assumed that this was a common feeling among museum volunteers.
Why are the volunteers low in number? Probably because getting into the inner circle at the museum is a scary thing. You guys make it sound like one must donate their soul to be a volunteer. That is why I hesitated before getting on the list for volunteer work. I have been an active member in other restoration projects and would like to help at the museum.
I am sorry that I offended you with my comments, and I apologize for shooting my mouth off. I didn’t think before I typed, and went off half cocked. It is great to hear that 346 will be back soon. As an aside, why did the boiler and smoke box have to be separated? Will there be a work session next Sat?
Again sorry,
Paul
