Used to depend on where I was when they called me but that was several years and 60 pounds ago. Now I try to dress appropriately for the job. I like bibs and shinny boots and what ever shirt I can find in the dirty clothes. I where bib overalls because I cannot get within 100 feet of the RR with out looking like I just made love to a 55 gallion oil drum. I have a friend who could switch 8 hours in the Alamosa yard making a narrow gauge train and look like he just stepped out of the shower and got into clean clothes, so of course he wore just jeans and an ironed shirt.
Required dress (on the Denver Service Unit-UP) includes lace up boots, ear plugs, safety glasses, long pants and no sleeveless shirts. All else is pretty much optional.
