Before it was re-absorbed by the BN, the Washington Central (ex NP main line between Kennewick and Cle Elum, in Washington State) train crews wore an official uniform. Blue 1000 mile shirt with Washington Central patch on it; blue or black jeans (employee option as to which); and either a white or black baseball cap with the company logo on it. Official company jackets with logo for cold weather operations.
The crew of the Palouse River & Coulee City (two former NP branches: Cheney to Coulee City, Washington, and Marshall, Washington to Moscow, Idaho) D-Cells seem to be attired in jeans, and polo shirts or flannel shirts, depending on the season. Baseball cap from local feed or implement dealer optional.
Reporting from steamless Eastern Washington, and wishing I were in Chama,
Charlie
