Do you have a source for these being water tanks? If so I’d appreciate it if you would pass it along because there would likely be more info there that I could use.

I had considered the possibility that this could be a tank for extra water or for bunker oil. I discarded the possibility that it was for extra boiler water because there is so much available water in El Salvador that they can get it almost everywhere along the line in between stations with tanks. I never thought these to be enclosed vessels, just two plates mounted atop the boiler outboard of the domes.
