When Bob Richardson had the Museum, he got no money from the State of Colorado and in some cases he actively rebuffed the State Historical Society. So everything there was basically acquisitions that either Bob or Corney made or items that belonged to the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club.
The place was run on a shoestring and was funded entirely by donations, admission prices and book and railroadiana sales. So I can't blame him for getting the 1009 and other pieces back on their feet any way possible. He did a great job and the CRRM is a testament to his endeavors.
So the mention of the 1009 being on the "wrong" pedestals was not a slam, it was merely a point of information as to how it would ride. Without those CB&Q pedestals, the underframe would probably be gone from it sitting on the ground.
