Congratulations to the restoration crew and Jeff Taylor, this is a fine job. My brother Bob and I have spent some time studying this car collecting information for our own project, C&S caboose 1008. The museum has been very helpful providing many of the missing parts and drawings and historic information about our car. Including one of our most prized possessions an original sink and it’s pedestal with the C&S logo and part number cast on (thanks Jeff).
Whoever did the lettering and C&S logo, a fine job, thank you.
By the way, we haven’t given up on 1008. Although we have run into a problem mounting the pedestals square to the axles. This won’t allow the journal boxes to go into the pedestal jaws without binding. We think we have found a solution to this problem so once we get back to the shop we will continue adding a special wedge to square things up.
Thanks again to the restoration crew for the motivation to get back to work.
