I've been to the Nelder Grove and California Lumber Company and Madera Flume and Trading did cut some of the Sequoias. Madera Sugar Pine did build a spur into the outskirts of the Nelder Grove, but I don't think they logged any of them. I also have been to Hume Lake and did a Then and Now of the dam site back in 2011. I recently heard from a Forest Service volunteer that ties are still on some of the branch lines of Hume Bennett Lumber and the remains of a donkey engine are also out in the woods.

The Hoist ran from Converse Basin to Hoist Ridge. Here's a couple of views along the right of way:

The California Hoax (General Noble) tree eventually was erected in Washington D.C. on the grounds of the Department of Agriculture and was demolished sometime in the 1930's...
