First photo is of a skid road with a large Sequoia log being dragged towards the mill:

It is truly amazing how much wood was left behind...
Finally, here's a photo of one of the log crib trestles on the Converst Hoist while it was operational:
The hoist had three foot rails on it and hauled log cars up to the top of hoist ridge and then lowered them down the other side to the Sequoia Railroad. No locomotives were used on the hoist.
Although the photo is faded, it is again clear that a tremendous amount of wood went into transporting the logs out of the forest. I think we found the location of this trestle last week, but new growth made it impossible to do a Then and Now comparison...
