One of the best "lost locomotive' tale is URy #12 .It was sold to the Eureka-Nevada Ry. in 1937 or 38 ,ran a few months , the railroad was abandoned and the unit sat almost a decade in the weeds at Palisade , Nevada . Enough time passed that ownership got foggy ,and a famous desert rat from the Las Vegas area "liberated" it . Dan Markoff told the tale well a couple of years back here at the NGDF . The engine is down at the Nevada State Railroad Museum at Boulder City . Pretty rough looking now ,but this old F&CC engine received a new boiler in the 1920s ,and has a lot less use on it than most preserved engines . Incidentally the E-N never relettered it for their own road .
