USA 152

July 17, 2004 10:49AM
From Howard Cliffords Alaska/Yukon Railroads
Baldwin 4-6-0 53296 06/1920 14x20 44"
Alaskan Engineering Commision #152, Alaska RR #152, USA 152.
Reportedly shipped to Skagway and Seattle in 1943.
There is no record of 152 in the 1943 WP&YR Engine House Register, so it was likely never used.
In 1943 the Army [WP&Y] received 2 C&S 2-8-0s and 3 SN 2-8-0s. They took over the yard switching duties handled by the 2 ET&WNC 4-6-0s, and shipped the 4-6-0s to Tacoma WA for rebuild. With the five 2-8-0s on hand there would have been no need for 152 on the WP&Y.
