John C., thanks for the updates and all the additional comments. I rode twice with my youngest son in 2011. Diesel RT to Fraser and with #73 RT to just south of Fraser. One of the more spectacular trips we ever did. You are correct, the scenery is "just" a little better north of the border. I may have missed it in the additional comments, but are any of the "vintage" diesels in use this year? When we stayed in Skagway, it was fun to walk down to the yards and watch the many runs they made up to the pass and beyond. almost with a streetcar regularity. And to watch all the action with the cruise ships in town. My wife and I were planning on going to Alaska to celebrate our 40th in 2020. I convinced her it was ok to drive from Anchorage to Skagway, like I did with our son. :Lots of bears, varied scenery. Hopefully we can go next year. Thanks again for the update, and glad to see the line back in service. In the pic, we overnighted in Whitehorse, encountered the Lake Bennet train at Carcross and again at Fraser, where we were invited up into the cab of the lead Shovelnose. BTW, the Alaska RR is pretty cool too.
