Greg, I always wanted to work at the D&S since I was 5 years old, and when I was 21 I got hired on and eventually made engineer. I wish I could do both and I miss Durango a ton, but White Pass is a great company to work for and I'm for more invested here than I ever knew I would be, and I have my place here, just like I did in Durango. I've run my share of steam but I'm happy with my current role as a conductor and whenever needed, engineer.
As for the question about Carnival, to my understanding they are a minority shareholder. The majority is a company based in Southeast Alaska that deals with all sorts of logistics operations, most of which are unionized.
The 195 was recently moved to a new display. I haven't put any work into it in years, but it still looks better than being completely rust covered like it did until 2014. I'd like to get the rods cleaned up but never have the time. There were some ideas about donations but it's been 8 years since I've worked for the city museum. Hopefully it will get an information board someday with some of things I was able to dig up from the Yukon Archives in Whitehorse, local individuals, and some information I found on this forum.
