Paul, just for the clarification of the record, 491's tender was not cut up by the D&RGW. It was sold by the D&RGW at scrap value to a commune and used as a water cistern. No one seems to know if it still exists, #491 was already retired and out of service at the time.
#491 was donated to the Colorado State Historical Society and placed on display at the Museum in Golden. It needed a tender, and #499 was not as desirable as a display engine at the time because it's snowplow had been torched off. So, #499 lost it's tender to the 491 and that's it and I ain't lyin'.
