There is nothing in the actions of the CHS in this matter that are honorable........... and that is why you will not see an actual CHS individual stand up for what is going on in a public forum like this or any other. The press is not putting pressure on them to explain themselves, and John Q public does not give a damn. This is typical "it take s a village" BS. We (supporters of old steam railroads and the history behind them) understand the incredibly delicate situation that most Colorado mountain Railroads operate under finacially, and to find an orginzation, like the GLR, who has put their money, time, and sweat in to a railorad like they have, is a MIRICALE. 30% profit here - 40% profit to you - 30% profit to the locals - is all that this scheme is about - MONEY. That's right, good old fashioned greed - about as unhonorable as Bill Clinton in front of a microphone. The long term employees of the GLR, the ownership families, and the frequently riding rail fan should be rewarded after thirty years of pressing onwards with brass plaques, praising attitudes, and even a little bit of cash. But instead, the employees will be sent packing, the families will wonder why they put thier lives in to this project, and the railfan will be left with "how it used to be" memories ( what the CHS is supposed to be protecting). But far flung tourist will no nothing in a couple of years. They will come to Silver Plume and ride the "train" - in what ever form it happens to be running ( BIG IF), and not know or care that a highly effecient operator and Steam locomotives once roamed there. If there were one thing that the damn management at the CHS could understand, is that when this much effort and "HEART" has gone in to a project for all the right reasons, it is impossible to get that same effect back once it is gone. They can do all the walking tours of Leadville they want, but with out a real gun fight and a few whores it is not 1880......... THIS MOUNTAIN STEAM RAILROAD IS ABOUT TO TAKE ITS LAST BREATH, AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DROWNING IT ARE THE ONES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROTECTING IT. Starting to ramble...........
