In working up events and photos for my version of the Mad Dash, I have always gone on the basis that Ernie Robart, Jeff Stebbins and I shared a ride in Ernie's car on May 28, 1968. Well, Jeff burst my bubble on what I thought were well remembered facts when he came up with this beautiful shot of the double headed K28s on Ferguson's trestle.
Well, there is no way that we shared Ernie's car, as Ernie and I were on top of the first ridge west of Antonito, and about 2 miles from Ferguson's trestle
So it was just Ernie and me sharing a ride, and Jeff drove his own car, meeting up with us on and off during the day. The benefit is, that Jeff got pictures that Ernie and I didn't get. While Ernie and I, and John West hiked out to the S curve beyond Sublette, Jeff got this great shot at Phantom Curve
