I know a few folks got pictures in the area between Monero and Navajo, but it was a challenge. There was no really passable road along the railroad between Navajo and Juanita, most of us detoured around via Pagosa. I have heard stories of some short cuts without going all the way to Pagosa, but I never found then and I think you really needed to know your way. If you were chasing east from Durango you had to give up good pix around Gato to make the long drive via Pagosa to get to Navajo before the train. If you were chasing west from Chama, you had the choice of chasing west to Navajo or chasing a hard working Cumbres turn. The usual compromise out of Chama was to maybe chase as far as Monero and then rush back to Chama to see how the turns were doing. I really enjoy seeing pix between Monero and Navajo because I took so few.
