OK, pretentious is a little harsh (or maybe a little too political for this board?) I just said I was amused, not that there was something wrong about the charters themselves. Personally, even though I know I won't ever make it to one of these, it's nice they exist and I enjoy the pictures posted by those fortunate enough to attend.
As to hard work, etc. I haven't found any employer willing to give me a try in several years. When applying for minimum wage jobs like I worked in my 20's I am told I'm "over-qualified" (WTF does that mean, anyway?) and when applying for professional positions my credentials are never right (even when they are exactly what the posting requested), or are "out of date". Maybe it's the cane and the white hair?
I'm fortunate in that I have a large inheritance from my late mother, less fortunate in that the Trustee[1] thinks I don't deserve any of the money. I wasn't going to go into this much detail but hey, it came up. I'll spare you all the how rest of the story, it's mostly my fault anyway and not even the excuse of beer to use.
Anyway, let's all play nice, ok? I mean this isn't abUSENET or some such.
Hank
[1] Trustee is the lawyer who drew up her will, etc. Trust fund because Mom wanted my late brother, who had a drinking problem, looked after (didn't work). Since mom & Dad always made a point of treating all their children the same, my sister and I each got one too. And we're stuck paying for Ray's sins.
